In October 2000 I joined Avon as an Independent Sales Representative and could never have predicted how it would change my life. I have suffered from anxiety and agoraphobia caused by battling physical illness as a teenager. Due to this condition, I had trouble holding “9 to 5” jobs and working for someone else since I would often have to call in sick or leave early. When I started to have children, my solution was to open a daycare center in my home in Florida, finding comfort knowing I did not have to leave my children and home if health issues or anxiety affected me.
But I wanted to do more than daycare, and knew I needed an activity where I could be in complete control of what I was doing and my schedule. I always had an interest in beauty, and also always had a passion for sales and helping others. Despite my health challenges, as long as I could remember, I had been a leader and enjoyed earning my own money.
I started with Avon after seeing a friend have success as a Sales Representative. When I saw the “Avon Rich and Famous” DVD of top achieving Sales Representatives, I decided then and there to “Dream Big” and become just like them. This was the initial push for my business.

Avon was put into my life as a blessing. It became a therapy for me. I took my business day by day and set out expectations I could handle, knowing that I would one day be a top seller. My health issues, along with a diagnosis of Aspergers for one of my sons, made it almost impossible for me to leave my home, so I developed a plan to tackle my Avon business step by step: I would promise myself to drive for only “x” hours to complete my Avon orders and deliveries, and then be done for the day. I soon overcame the worst of my anxiety and agoraphobia and was able to thrive in my business. Today I am an Avon Executive Unit Leader with more than 350 Avon Sales Representatives from across the US in my Unit, and it is growing all the time. I am the proud recipient of Spirit of Avon award, and my home office holds over 32 Avon Awards. Each year I have achieved Avon Presidents Club, plus Honor Society this year, which are special recognitions for top sellers.
I love telling my story – to my Avon team, on YouTube, on my Avon Team website (“The Team Money Makers”) and now on this blog – to share my experience, advice and tips with as many people as possible. I often hear from people who say that I inspire them. I absolutely love being an Avon Independent Sales Representative and am grateful for all the good it has done for me and my family. My Avon business has empowered me financially and personally.

I am a wife and mother to 3 sons. I grew up in Boca Raton, Florida, graduated from Spanish River High School and in 1992 I married my high school sweetie. From 1994 through 2000 I ran a successful home day care business, and then in October 2000 I became an Avon Independent. Sales Representative and never looked back. Avon has become my fulltime career: I am now an Executive Unit Leader with over 350+ Sales Representatives in my Unit and I have served thousands of customers over the years. Lisa has been my up-line for almost 9 years now and I can tell you that even in her dark hours whe was there. only a few of us knew what she was going through. She is such an inspiration and always lifting us up. She’s the GREATEST!!!!

Your story assures me that I’m making the “right” decisions. I had to stop working my full-time administrative assistant job just over a year ago due to progression of generalized anxiety disorder. A few months later I became a rep. It is now a year later, and a lot of life changes have occurred (including my most recent diagnosis of post traumatic stress disorder). In lieu of applying for disability, I have chosen to become a Leadership Candidate and BUILD my Avon business to sustain my share of the household budget. I love the fact that I can work WHEN I WANT and HOW I WANT! A side effect is the family bonding that takes place too…my husband and 5-year old enjoy helping me put stickers on books!
I love your utube videos I was just typing Avon in the computer for utube last week and you came up with alot of others. So that is weird that you are on the blog this week. I believe in coincedence and timing. Your information was true to form an have been helpful. I have been with Avon for 9yr AUL HS and love it. Anyway you have help me to relize that I can make my dream come true to quit being scare of things and do it. So thank you very much.

I don’t understand how you could have accomplished all this with your ailments. I have Spasmodic Torticollis and it puts a damper on my Avon business, but I hang in there. I have gone “gang busters”, with my Leadership business and inspite of my efforts it has not flurished much in 10 years. It is very discouraging for me when I see other people succeed where I have not. I can’t get my Unit members to come up with one lead to save their life. I have done numerous events with them and even offered a $1,500 vacation trip, nothing moves these people. Non the less My husband and I will continue to invite people we meet to become Avon Representatives.
